Alright, short industry report on how it was on the international animation festival in San Francisco.
The whole thing was in “Landmark’s Embarcadero Center Cinema” in San Francisco. I’ve attended to the most film screens in the 4 days program.
Some of them were good, some of them just awesome, so here it is, all the good stuff that I was able to find in the net.
I’ll start with musical, cos’ in my taste it was the best category af all.
Gorillaz: Stylo (Jamie Hewlett, Pete Candeland, England)
The Light of Life (Daihei Shibata, Japan)
Mark Ronson: Bang, Bang, Bang (Warren Fu, England)
Das Racist: Who’s That? Brooown! (Thomas de Napoli, USA)
Chairlift: Evident Utensil (Ray Tintori, USA)
The effect is called datamoshing. look on youtube for the how to video
Grizzly Bear: Two Weeks (Patrick Daughters, USA)
Knalpot: Casio Halbzeit (Martha Colburn, USA)
Muto (Blu, Brazil)
Mobile (Verena Fels, Germany)
This short was one of the greatest, however I couldn’t find anything online except Jacob Frey reel, he was one of the animators on that production.
I Forgive You (Pierre Mousquet, Cauwe Jérôme, Belgium)
Love & Theft (Andreas Hykade, Germany)
Trailers
The Lost Thing Trailer (Andrew Ruhemann, Shaun Tan, Australia)
I Am Simon (Tunde Molnar, Hungary)
Here Come The Waves: The Hazards of Love Visualized Official Trailer

Hey what’s up, Alex here your VRay Guide, and this time we will do something different, something very fundamental. This will help you to develop a feeling for timing, and a better understanding of frame-by-frame important “keys” in animation.
Yep, I’m talking about base of all bases, most of the useful techniques that develop you as animator! It’s easy, and FUN! you all guess it right, I’m talking about STOP MOTION ANIMATION.
Practice this from time to time, this is how you develop your skills, this is how you get better than others. Just remember this “If you not getting better, you getting worse” .
Here is some test for STOP ANIMATION. Made with MonkeyJam 3.0Beta, Logithech 9000 Web Cam.
